What Should You Do if Amazon Seller Verification Fails?
Amazon Sellers Appeal, operated by ASA Compliance Group and led by Or Shamosh, has handled 5,500+* seller cases since 2016.
We handle account suspensions, listing appeals and compliance cases, from the first review through submissions and follow‑ups.
If Amazon seller verification fails, compare the rejection message with your Seller Central details and the documents you uploaded. Start with the business name, address, identity document and the person authorized to act for the company. Correct the wrong information through the available verification process, then submit the documents Amazon requests.
A clear scan of the wrong document will still leave the question unanswered. Check whether Amazon is verifying your identity, your business or both.
What is Amazon trying to verify?
Check what Amazon wants to confirm: your identity, your business, an address, your authority to act for the business, or its ownership. Send documents that answer that specific question.
- Identity: The named person’s accepted identity document, with readable details and any validity requirement met.
- Business: The company’s registered name, registration details and current status.
- Address: The address type requested and an accepted document showing it. A registered office and a residential address serve different purposes.
- Authority: The person’s role or permission to act for the company.
- Ownership and control: The people and entities the current form asks you to disclose, supported by the company documents.
The Amazon US registration guide describes the registration process and preparation. It is not a universal checklist for every marketplace or later verification request.
Why do Amazon verification documents get rejected?
Check whether the document answers the request and matches the correct Seller Central field. These three common situations show why an otherwise genuine document may need clarification:
- A shortened business name: Seller Central shows “Bright Home,” but the company registration says “Bright Home Limited.” Check that the legal business name is entered correctly, rather than the shop’s trading name.
- An old address: The company has moved, but Seller Central still shows the previous address. Identify which address Amazon is checking and update incorrect information through the available process.
- A different contact person: An employee submits the application, but the registration document names the director. Check what Amazon requires to show the employee’s authority to act for the business.
These are illustrative examples, not a list of documents Amazon always accepts. If an official document is outdated, ask its issuer to correct it. Do not edit the PDF yourself.
If Amazon refers to a contract clause, read it alongside the actual verification request. The Business Solutions Agreement guide explains the broader context.
How long do you have to complete verification?
Use the deadline in your verification message. Registration, periodic verification and a deactivation-related request need not share a single timeframe. Keep the deadline, submission confirmation and any later request from Amazon.
A pending review does not tell you whether an unrelated deadline has changed. If an interface problem blocks submission, report it promptly with the request reference and a screenshot of the relevant control. Do not assume a support message extends the deadline.
If the account is also deactivated, keep the verification response and any separate seller appeal consistent. For follow-up planning, see review time and pending decisions.
Why did Amazon reject your business ownership chart?
Check whether the chart shows every company between the seller business and its owners. It should agree with current company documents and meet the signature and date requirements in Amazon’s request.
Simple example: You own a holding company, and that holding company owns the business selling on Amazon. A chart that shows you directly owning the seller business leaves out the holding company. Add that missing company and provide the requested documents showing the relationship.
- Start with the registered company operating the seller account.
- Show who owns that company, including any company in between.
- Check names and ownership percentages against company documents.
- Explain recent ownership changes with dated documents.
- Include signatures or certification if Amazon requests them.
A director, an owner and an authorized employee can be different people. Label their roles accurately.
What if the field is locked or no upload option appears?
Write down which field cannot be edited, what it currently says and what it should say according to your document. Keep a screenshot of the missing or disabled control. Avoid including unrelated personal data in that screenshot.
Use the support or response route identified in the verification request. A useful request is specific: “The business-name field shows Bright Home. The company registration shows Bright Home Limited. The field cannot be edited in this verification flow. Which process should we use to correct it?”
Do not switch entity type, enter a different person’s identity or open a new seller account to bypass the blocked field. If the data is already correct, ask which requirement remains unmet instead of changing accurate information repeatedly.
How do you handle an INFORM Consumers Act request?
Follow the specific US verification or certification request shown for the account. Identify which business or contact details need confirmation and retain the completion receipt. Do not assume an earlier identity check satisfies a later information request.
If the dashboard still shows action required after submission, compare the exact outstanding item with what you completed. Ask whether another field or certification remains open. An unrelated appeal letter does not replace a required verification step.
Which owners must be disclosed?
Use the current marketplace and business-specific instructions. Do not apply one ownership percentage to every Amazon verification process. Requirements can distinguish beneficial ownership, control and authorized representation.
Read which owners or representatives the form asks you to name. Check the ownership percentages and company documents before completing it. If the form and Amazon’s message ask for different information, quote the conflicting instructions and ask for clarification.
The Canada ownership guide covers that regional context. A Brand Registry verification concerns a separate application and should not be treated as interchangeable with seller-business verification.
What if Amazon does not explain why verification failed?
Ask a focused question about the rejected document. Explain what you uploaded and which requirement you understood it to answer. That is more useful than sending the same file repeatedly.
Example: “You said the address could not be verified. I uploaded the company document showing our registered business address, which matches Seller Central. Are you asking for proof of the business address or my home address? Please confirm which document is needed.”
Use the details of your own case and send personal information only through the appropriate Amazon channel. If the rejection already identifies a problem, such as a missing page or expired document, address that first. See the Amazon appeal documents guide for a simple document checklist.
Does a business change affect verification?
A change in owner, registered company, address or representative can affect the information being checked. First establish what actually changed and when. A share transfer, a new director and a transfer of business assets are different events.
Keep company documents from before and after the change with a dated explanation. Follow the applicable Amazon process before treating account access or a business transaction as authorization to change the business registered as the seller. The account migration service can help review the intended change and its verification sequence.
What should you check before resubmitting documents?
- The document answers the specific requirement and identifies the correct business or person.
- The full document is readable, with all required pages and details.
- The document type, issue date and validity match the current request.
- Names, addresses and roles agree with the corresponding Seller Central fields.
- Any legitimate discrepancy or recent change has a supported explanation.
- Translations, signatures or certification are supplied only as required and accurately described.
- You have retained the original file, the submitted version and the submission reference.
For a video call, prepare the requested person and original documents through the seller video verification guide. Do not assume another employee can attend instead if the request names a specific representative.
What happens after verification is accepted?
Read what was accepted and check whether the verification flow is complete. Then review account selling status and any separate policy, payment or ASIN restrictions. A successful document check should not be described as resolution of other restrictions.
Keep the confirmed information current and assign someone to monitor further verification requests. If a rejection remains unexplained, provide Amazon’s request, your original documents and the previous replies for a focused review.

Documents submitted, but verification is still blocked?
Tell us which verification step is unresolved and what Amazon said in its latest reply. We can explain whether the case fits our verification support, what we would need to review and the fee for handling it.
